*You need to access bios to password protect your HDD. Here's the link to a list of keyboard shortcuts to access your bios.
Remember, you can only access your bios when your are turning on your computer(when it is still booting).

Here's the link: http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

Note: If you password protect your hard disk using your bios. It will only work for that computer. If you transfer your hard disk to other computers, the password will not work.

Note: I will not include here how to password protect using bios. Becuase there are so many bios manufacturers out there. But I can atleast share how to password protect on an asrock motherboard.

*You can also use this software from spydex.com to password protect your hard disk. Here's the download link:
http://www.spydex.com/hide-files.zip
If the link doesnt work, just go in this site and try to find the software 'hide files'.

I too still havent use the software, because I don't have anything to password protect. I only store what's important.
So, its up to you to discover how to use the software.
